BERLIN — Two film festivals are set to open in Berlin and Cologne next year, offering local and international talent opportunities to showcase their work.
Presenting a lineup of films from and about the German capital, Achtung Berlin will run April 14-17 in the Hackesche Hoefe Film Theater, one of the city’s most popular arthouse cinemas.
The fest will open with a Berlin-Brandenburg Industry Day, offering local filmmakers a forum for discussion.
Hajo Schaefer heads the new Berlin fest. Schaefer has been involved in the Berlinale, Filmfest Munchen and Filmfest Cottbus and worked for German film org Deutsche Kinemathek. He also has organized the New Brandenburg Documentary Film Festival for the past three years.
Entries must have been completed after January 2000 and submitted no later than Feb. 15. For more information: http://www.achtungberlin.de
Meanwhile, Fresh Films kicks off in Cologne March 16-20. Fest targets young Euro filmmakers looking for a forum to screen “inventive and unusual” works.
Its European Debuts section is competitive for first, second or third features.
