An ‘Epic’ undertaking

Landis to direct Off Broadway adaptation

James Stern’s financing and production shingle Endgame has optioned the feature film rights to David Crane and Larry Coen’s Off Broadway show and screenplay “Epic Proportions.”

John Landis is attached to direct the film from a script being rewritten by Todd Berger. Endgame’s Julia Eisenman and Stern produce.

Comedy set during the Great Depression follows two ne’er-do-well brothers who begin as extras and move up the ranks on an expensive yet ultimately doomed movie shoot about the biblical plagues.

Endgame co-financed four pics that debuted at the Toronto Film Festival this year: Golden Globe nominees “Beyond the Sea” and “Hotel Rwanda,” as well as “Stage Beauty” and “Five Children and It.”

Shingle also recently completed production on Miramax’s upcoming “Proof,” as well as on “The Alibi” with Summit Entertainment.
