The 35th Intl. Film Festival of India, held in Goa, ends today with a screening of “Alexander.”
The 11-day event was a success with auds, who particularly enjoyed the screenings on the beach and the well-handled open sessions with Ashok Amritraj, Mira Nair and others. Following a screening of South African pic “Yesterday,” Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan was appointed an ambassador in the anti-AIDS campaign headed by South Africa’s former president Nelson Mandela.
But there were protests from locals inconvenienced by the fest in the still- unprepared Goa, and industryites found the Film Bazaar never took off, with many booths remaining empty.
