Music industry vet Julia Michels has joined MGM Music as senior veep.
Michels was most recently veep of soundtracks for EMI, where she oversaw soundtracks for all of the music company’s family of labels, including Capitol, Virgin and Blue Note.
While there she helped produce the “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” and “The Simple Life” soundtracks.
“Julia has worked at a high level in every part of the music business, from running record labels and representing artists to creating soundtracks for some of the biggest names in the business,” said MGM Music exec veep Anita Camarata, to whom Michels reports.
Before EMI, Michels spent four years as veep of creative affairs for Twentieth Century Fox Music, overseeing music for the pics “Daredevil,” “Down With Love,” “Unfaithful,” “Like Mike” and “The Banger Sisters.”
She also served as director of soundtracks for Capitol Records and was a music editor, co-owner of an independent record label and an agent for film composers.
