ThinkFilm garners control of ‘Control’

Hungarian slasher pic set for North America

ThinkFilm has acquired North American rights to Certain Regard entry “Control” (Kontroll), an action thriller from U.S.-born Hungarian Nimrod Antal, making his feature directing debut.

The highest-grossing local pic released in Hungary in recent years, “Control” centers on a hooded killer on the loose in the Budapest subway system.

Jeff Sackman, ThinkFilm president-CEO, and Mark Urman, head of U.S. distribution, negotiated the deal with Andrew Herwitz of Gotham-based Film Sales Co.

No release date has been set for the pic, which had its official screening Sunday in Cannes.
