Kintop Pictures will release Mel Gibson’s blockbuster “The Passion of the Christ” in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh.
Kintop’s Los Angeles-based producer Deepak Nayar told Daily Variety, “We are currently in talks with the censor board of India to allow a theatrical release without any cuts.”
The current head of the Indian censor board is film actor Anupam Kher, who played a role in Kintop Pictures-produced “Bend It Like Beckham.”
Nayar is targeting a May 15 release date for India. Kintop plans to release more prints of the film in southern India, which has a larger concentration of Christians.
