Wacky ‘Heart’ banter

Cast, crew of 'Huckabees' chat it up at screening

The Q&A session following Wednesday’s Variety screening of “I Heart Huckabees” was far from run-of-the-mill. Helmer David O. Russell, thesp Jason Schwartzman, co-writer Jeff Baena and composer Jon Brion goofed around in a freewheeling exchange that didn’t seem too far removed from Fox Searchlight’s existential comedy.

After a half-hour of snarky remarks, questions from the audience and an extremely detailed blow-by-blow on the movie’s love scene involving Schwartzman, co-star Isabelle Huppert and a log, the ArcLight sesh ended on a high note. Variety editor-in-chief Peter Bart told Russell, “If I stay here long enough, I’ll be a character in the movie.”
