Swank gets frank on her latest pic

HOLLYWOOD — After the Dec. 15 Variety unspooling of “Million Dollar Baby,” the aud was treated to the guts and glamour of Oscar-winner Hilary Swank, who herself was given a treat earlier in the week with Golden Globe nominations for her work in the pic and HBO’s “Iron Jawed Angels.”

Swank said she “worked out four-and-a-half hours a day, every day, for three months” to get in shape to play boxer Maggie Fitzgerald. “They wanted me to gain 10 pounds of muscle,” Swank said. “I got to 10 pounds, but I didn’t think it was enough. So I put on 19 pounds.”

Swank also lauded helmer-star Clint Eastwood as “the type of man who will wait patiently in a lunch line with 50 people in front of him. He won’t cut to the front just because he’s Clint Eastwood. He’ll wait his turn.”
