‘Sea’ swamps Goya noms

'Tiovivo,' 'Roma,' 'Education' also contenders

MADRID — Alejandro Amenabar’s “The Sea Inside” has scooped 15 nominations, including film, director and actor (Javier Bardem), for the 19th Goya Academy Awards, Spain’s top film honors.

Other picture contenders are Jose Luis Garci’s nostalgic drama “Tiovivo c. 1950,” which drew six noms; Argentinian helmer Adolfo Aristarain’s drama “Roma,” with four; and Pedro Almodovar’s “Bad Education,” with four.

The Goya Awards ceremony of the Spanish Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences takes place Jan. 30 in Madrid. Vet actor Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez will receive an honorary Goya for lifetime achievement.
