Bardem's spirits, and Oscar chances, are high
NEW YORK — “The Sea Inside” star Javier Bardem was taking buzz of an Oscar nom in stride at the film’s New York preem Thursday night, despite “Sea’s” imminent cruise into awards season’s ever-stormy waters. Decked out in a tailored black suit, the Spanish star of the serious drama was kicking up his heels, literally, at the pic’s after-party.
When “Vertigo,” the latest single from Irish rockers U2, echoed through the cavernous club CroBar, Bardem flipped up his collar and transformed into frenetic frontman Bono, launching into an impromptu, lip-synched concert for a trio of gobsmacked babes at the bar.
Also on hand to celebrate the film at the Chelsea dance spot were helmer Alejandro Amenabar, New Line brass Michael Lynne, Marian Koltai-Levine and Guy Stodel, plus guests Julie Taymor and Kerry Washington.
