‘Sea’ roils aud’s emotions

Bardem speaks out on biopic

After the Dec. 8 Variety screening of “The Sea Inside,” star Javier Bardem spoke about the demanding role of real-life quadriplegic Ramon Sampedro.

“The challenge is to portray somebody who is 30 years older,” he said, “and the challenge is also to try to see if I was able to express myself without body language.”

Moviegoers have reacted so strongly to Sampedro’s fight for euthanasia that they want to talk with the thesp about it when he goes out to buy his morning paper.

“We have a need to discuss the movie which is sometimes exhausting,” he told the ArcLight aud.

Helmer Alejandro Amenabar said he’s also been thanked on the street for tackling the “very sensitive matter.”
