Stars celebrate the life of Cole Porter

After the Variety unspooling of “De-Lovely,” Kevin Kline talked about how de-lightful portraying Cole Porter was. “It was like living out some dream from my youth,” Kline told the ArcLight aud Dec. 1. “I loved just wallowing in the music.”

Director Irwin Winkler said they were able to make the tuner by cutting salaries. “We were willing to sacrifice cash to make the movie,” he said.

According to producer Rob Cowan, singers such as Alanis Morissette, Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow and Robbie Williams didn’t get paid any money.

“That’s how committed they were to the project and the music,” he said.
