Fireworks spark feevee platform's new sked

SYDNEY — Australia’s dominant feevee platform Foxtel always stages impressive parties but its Nov. 30 summer schedule launch entered a new league.

At the trendy Loft bar, the night’s highlight was a 10-minute fireworks display from Foxtel Studios across the harbor.

It was likely the last time the platform, owned by News Corp., Kerry Packer‘s PBL and telco Telstra, could showcase its home so impressively before relocating to new digs in outer suburbia next year.

Topper Kim Williams, marketing prexy Brian Walsh and a handful of channel presenters did their utmost to hype the feevee’s annual bid for viewers. To emphasize this point small, costumed “free-to-air bears” roamed the party before exiting early to enter summer hibernation.
