‘Alexander’ set in Stone

Farell, Jolie, Kilmer sing the praises of helmer

HOLLYWOOD — “Alexander” thesps talked about helmer Oliver Stone‘s challenging nature during the Q&A following Wednesday’s Variety screening.

“Oliver is someone who pushes you,” said Jared Leto.

“You can’t be timid when you work with Oliver,” seconded Colin Farrell, who called the helmer “a bull of a man.”

Proving their point, Stone ribbed Val Kilmer about flubbing his lines while riding a horse with one eye obscured.

The helmer said he was less concerned about the pic’s already controversial bisexuality than the Alexander the Great’s manipulative mother, played by Angelina Jolie.

“Here’s a mother, the first time you see her is offering her child a snake,” Stone said. “How are the housewives in Middle America going to take that?”

Daily Variety‘s Elizabeth Guider moderated the ArcLight sesh.
