AFI top 10 pix feature ‘Aviator,’ ‘Sideways’

'Housewives', 'Lost' among top television programs

“The Aviator,” “The Incredibles” and “Sideways” nabbed a spot on the fifth annual American Film Institute’s list of the year’s top 10 films on Sunday.

Ten pics and 10 television programs were honored by AFI for collaborative achievements.

Rounding out the pic list are “Collateral,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Friday Night Lights,” “Kinsey,” “Maria Full of Grace,” “Million Dollar Baby” and “Spider-Man 2.” List was compiled by a 13-person jury that included Roger Ebert, James Cromwell and Naomi Foner as well as scholars, artists, critics and AFI trustees.

A second 13-member jury placed ABC hit’s “Desperate Housewives” and “Lost” among this year’s top television programs.

HBO secured four spots on the TV list with “The Sopranos,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Deadwood” and made-for “Something the Lord Made,” while FX took two with “Nip/Tuck” and “The Shield.”

Fox and Comedy Central each garnered a single nod, for “Arrested Development” and “South Park,” respectively.

AFI will honor the creative ensembles behind the selected pics and TV skeins at a luncheon Jan. 14 at the Four Seasons Hotel.
