WHV Germany draws up distrib deal

Co. will handle, catalogue VCL titles

BERLIN — Warner Home Video Germany has inked a distribution deal with Teutonic home entertainment group VCL Communications.

Starting next month, Warner will distribute exclusively VCL’s new titles as well as back catalogue, all of which will retain the VCL label. Warner will also handle VCL fare in Austria and German-speaking Switzerland from October.

Some of VCL’s top DVDs include “Jeepers Creepers,” “American Pie,” “The Sixth Sense,” “Shanghai Noon” and “Sleepy Hollow:”

Deal could help improve VCL’s bottom line. The company has suffered financial troubles in recent years but managed to narrow its loss by 87% to E1.5 million ($2.3 million) last year as company revenues sank 54% to $20.5 million.
