Co. takes 'Godforsaken,' 'Wilderness' homevid rights

NEW YORK — Specialty distrib TLA Releasing has closed homevid rights for two first time features, Pieter Kuijpers’ crime thriller “Godforsaken” and Scottish helmer David Mackenzie’s “The Last Great Wilderness.”

Both pics will be distributed through TLA’s International Film Festival label.

“Godforsaken” follows an alienated teen who finds a role model in a criminal and embarks on a violent crime spree with him.

Film picked up three Golden Calves, the Dutch equivalent to the Oscar, for director, actor and screenplay at the 2003 Netherlands Film Festival.

Mackenzie’s 2002 pic “The Last Wilderness” stars his brother, British TV thesp Alastair Mackenzie, who also co-wrote the script.

Helmer’s most recent pic, “Young Adam,” was released by Sony Pictures Classics and stars Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton.
