'Miami Vice,' 'Murder,' 'Apprentice' among slated releases

In the first big consumer manifestation of NBC’s merger with Universal, the companies are unleashing a torrent of old and new NBC and/or U-owned TV series on DVD in the coming months.

Among the slate are the debut of long-awaited series like “Miami Vice,” “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century,” “Amazing Stories” and “Night Gallery,” popular classics such as “Murder, She Wrote,” “Columbo,” “Magnum P.I.” “The Munsters” and “Knight Rider”; and new series such as “Las Vegas,” “American Dreams” and “The Apprentice.”

The onslaught begins Aug. 3 with “Knight Rider” and will continue Aug. 24 with “The Apprentice.” Latter DVD will include previews for the second season.

Others, including the first and second seasons of “Sliders,” “Dream On,” the recent Sci Fi network miniseries “Battlestar Galactica” and additional seasons of all the “Law and Order” series, will be released between August and Nov. 16.
