Today’s site is really an email-based quiz. Twice a week (Monday and Thursday), you’ll receive the synopsis of two films from any time back to the dawn of movies. If you know them, you reply by email; correct answers get points, and top point scorers are listed in the Hall of Fame.
The quiz choices are an interesting reminder of the breadth of movie history, and I find them to be excellent examples of elevator pitches; imagine yourself selling one of these plots in a development meeting, and see which classic movies would never have gotten out of the room.
It’s a little disappointing that you don’t get any sort of identification on the Hall of Fame list other than “DianneY” or “DukeM,” but fact is, you’re participating for self-improvement, not glory. The site’s FAQ says it’s run by a stay-at-home mother in Australia who promises she won’t share your email address with anyone. If you can’t trust a mom, who can you trust?
