CyberBiz Brief

Vidgame publisher Namco Hometek has signed a deal with developer Flagship Studios, which was founded by several disgruntled co-creators of the hit “Diablo” franchise, to publish its first PC title.

Still-untitled game will likely be similar to the multiplayer online fantasy “Diablo” series. Cachet of the “Diablo” creators should help Namco, which publishes console games such as “SoulCalibur” and “Dead to Rights,” make a splash with its entry into the PC market.

Flagship was founded last year by a team of developers from Blizzard Entertainment, which is owned by VU Games. They left out of frustration with the corporate chaos surrounding the restructuring of Viv U’s entertainment assets last year, including the potential sale of its vidgame unit, which ultimately did not happen.
