CinemaNow is heading to Europe thanks to a partnership with ISP Tiscali.
The Internet video-on-demand company will power online film offerings in Germany, Italy and the U.K. under Tiscali’s brand name.
CinemaNow will offer films from its library to Tiscali and also handle payment, content protection, and delivery services with its Patchbay technology.
Deal is similar to an online music offering Tiscali offers that’s powered by Loudeye subsid OD2.
Due to varying details in licensing deals, though, CinemaNow won’t be able to offer the full complement of studio pics it gives to U.S. users.
Only a portion of its library will be made available, with certain pics available only in certain countries, depending upon restrictions.
CinemaNow cited international expansion as one of its primary plans when it raised $11 million in venture capital funding in July.
It’s one of several overseas deals CinemaNow has to handle VOD operations for other companies.
