Co. gets breaking news, headlines, clips from nets
Cellular TV distributor MobiTV has added NBC News and Fox Sports to its lineup.
Currently available to Sprint PCS subscribers, MobiTV launched in late 2003 with live feeds of 15 TV networks including CNBC, the Learning Channel and Discovery. Soon after, it added ABC News’ online division.
Deal signed with NBC U gives Mobi breaking news and headlines from NBC News to complement its feed of 24 hours news net MSNBC.
“Finding new platforms for NBC Universal content is a top priority,” said Brandon Burgess, NBC U’s exec veep for digital media, international channels and business development. “Making our news content available to mobile phone users has proven to be a good fit with our current offerings on MobiTV, so we are pleased to add NBC News to the list.”
Agreement with Fox Interactive Media brings national and regional sports news, along with clips from Fox Sports skeins such as “Best Damn Sports Show Period” and “Beyond the Glory.” Net will also provide some exclusive unaired footage.
MobiTV is also adding content from new net Comedy Time, which airs standup comedy and is designed specifically for wireless devices. It’s backed by management shingle Power Entertainment and producing partner Captured Live Prods.
