Mobile video usage to surge

Study sez 22.3 million Americans to be users by 2009

LONDON — A recent report by high-tech market research firm In-Stat/MDR – owned by Variety‘s parent company Reed Business – predicts US mobile video services will be worth $5.4 billion a year in 2009.

The findings are set out in the company’s new report, “Mobile Video Services in the US, 2004-2009”. which says the number of services on offer will rise sharply in late 2004 reflecting greater bandwidth and advances in compression technologies.

It also predicts that by 2009, 22.3 million Americans will be viewers of mobile video content.
