Rednecks get record release
The Blue Collar guys are clear favorites in the red states.
“The Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again” sold more than 1 million DVDs in the first week after its Dec. 7 release, according to Paramount Home Entertainment, making it the fastest-selling standup comedy DVD.
“Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again,” directed by C.B. Harding, features the comedy stylings of Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall and Ron White. Most of the standup and song performances were filmed live at a show in Denver, with other footage of the guys hanging out on their tour bus and interacting with fans.
J.P. Williams and Alan C. Blomquist produced and Emily Wolfe exec produced.
The original “Blue Collar Comedy Tour” was released on DVD last year by Warner Home Entertainment and continues to rank as one of the five top moneymaking straight-to-disc movies this year with $33 million, according to Daily Variety sister publication DVD Exclusive. Image Entertainment’s “Larry the Cable Guy: Git-R-Done” ranks as the 11th highest moneymaker among straight-to-DVD pics with about $12 million.
“Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again” was the springboard for a development deal between Paramount and Parallel Entertainment Pictures. The first DVD project to come from that deal will be “Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector.”
