Hispanic co. hires public sector exec
Univision Communications Inc. has appointed Noelia Rodriguez to the newly created position of Vice President of Corporate Communications, reporting to CEO A. Jerrold Perenchio.Rodriguez will handle the U.S. Hispanic company’s strategic communications needs and the promotion of its media services and operations. Rodriguez comes to Univision after 10 years in the public service sector. Since 2001, she served as First Lady Laura Bush’s Director of Communications and Press Secretary for nearly three years. Prior to this post, she served as Press Secretary to Los Angeles Mayor Richard J. Riordan from 1994. In 1998, she was promoted to Deputy Mayor in charge of Communications and Scheduling. In 2000, Riordan named her president and CEO of LA Convention 2000, the host committee for the first Democratic Convention of the 21st century. Rodriguez began her communications career at Southern California Edison, specializing in media relations and corporate advertising. Currently, she serves on the board of directors for L.A. Inc., Los Angeles’ convention and visitors bureau.
