Org committee put off election
HOLLYWOOD — The Teamsters have called off an upcoming election in which 80 WGA West staffers would have chosen whether to be repped by the union.
The staff organizing committee has said it decided to put off the election “in the spirit of cooperation with WGA management.”
“We want to be clear we take this action from a position of strength and in anticipation of a new relationship with WGA management,” the committee said. “The decision to withdraw the petition was made, in part, with intent to avoid erosion between management and staff and to avoid divisiveness among staff members.”
A yes vote would have placed the guild staffers into Teamsters Local 986.
