Corey Shields is ankling his corporate communications post at NBC Universal to become exec VP and chief communications officer for global ad giant J. Walter Thompson.
Shields, 48, has served as senior veep of corporate communications and media relations in New York at NBC Universal.
Effective Aug. 2, Shields will be responsible for the agency’s overall corporate communications strategy including marketing and managing the brand, overseeing media relations and internal communications and directing philanthropic activities.
Shields was named senior veep of NBC corporate communications and media relations in July 2002 after having joined the department as a VP in October 2000.
Prior to joining NBC, Shields held PR roles at Rodale Publishing (Men’s Health and Prevention magazines), MSNBC and American Express. Shields first joined NBC in July 1997 as director of media relations for primetime newsmag “Dateline NBC.”
