Letter to the editor

To the Editor:

I do hope that this message will get to you and that you will hear my genuine concern for how your “Ration of Passion” article is creating undeserved backlash for many the hardworking crew members of “The Passion.”

The article, which depicts the crew and actors as a resentful bunch who consider Mel to be greedy and undeserving of the profits the film has netted him, has of course angered Mr. Gibson. That anger is now being aimed at the entirety of the crew, even those who have no quarrel with Mr. Gibson or the film’s success.

There are those who are of the viewpoint that he took the risk and he is entitled to the rewards. If the film had lost money, would the crew think Mel had the right to ask them to give back a percentage of the salaries they were paid to cover his debts? Of course not.
