COLOGNE — In the first year of consolidation of its stake in film producer Constantin, Swiss media group Highlight Communications boosted revenues by 72% to 283 million Swiss francs ($193 million) in 2003, but profits dropped.
Constantin reported a loss of $11.8 million last year, pulling down Highlight’s net profit to $6.9 million from $11.6 million in 2003.
Highlight, whose core activities are home entertainment and sports marketing, has gradually increased its holdings in Constantin to 58%. It is now the largest film licensing and production group in the German-lingo territories, with film assets of $180 million.
Highlight noted that it expects all its core activities, including film licensing and production, to be in the black this year.
