Schweitzer named topper of CBS ad arm
Viacom co-prexy Leslie Moonves named George Schweitzer prexy of CBS Marketing Group, a new advertising and marketing arm that will oversee all creative communications for CBS and UPN and collaborate with Viacom’s King World, Infinity Broadcasting, Paramount Television and Viacom Outdoor.
In addition to consumer marketing, group will create promotions with advertisers to build revenues and ratings.
“The CBS Marketing Group will maximize our promotional power across all our platforms and deliver the greatest punch from our company’s extraordinary assets,” Moonves said.
Schweitzer began his career at CBS radio, then left Viacom but returned again in 1988 as a senior veep for communications. Since 1994, he has served as exec VP for marketing and communications.
Reporting to Schweitzer are Ron Scalera and Anne O’Grady, who were boosted to the exec veepee level. Scalera joined CBS in 1997 from Fox Broadcasting; O’Grady joined CBS in 1989 from Kraft General Foods.
