Bell Globemedia sees revs up to $252 mil

Revenue at Canuck media company Bell Globemedia rose 2.1% to $252 million from $247 million in the same quarter the previous year.

Advertising revenue for the subsidiary of Bell Canada Enterprises was $184 million, compared with $173 million a year earlier. Subscriber revenue from the specialty channels remained unchanged from year to year at $55 million.

BCE satellite platform Bell Expressvu upped its subscriber count by 16,000 in the quarter as revenues grew 17%. Bell Expressvu revenue was $152 million, up from $130 million in the first quarter last year.

Montreal-based BCE reported revenue of C$4.7 billion ($3.5 billion) for the first quarter of 2004, up 0.4% from a year earlier, while cash flow was $1.4 billion for the quarter, up 4.1%.
