To the editor:
Brian Lowry describes Bill Clinton’s “rhetorical powers and seductive charm” (“Tuning In,” Aug. 04) and goes on to state that this recent display of his verbal agility was “doubtless putting half the audience in a mood to disrobe.”
The former president is a very intelligent and well informed and is indeed a stimulating speaker. Does the female response to his intellect need to be described as sexual stimulation?
I’m quite sure women are as intellectually stimulated by the former resident of the White House as men are.
To strongly imply, as Lowry did, that women respond with their bodies and not with their hearts and minds is insulting and indicative of a lack of insight into how women function. He may think he’s “tuning in,” but in this area, he is not.
