Co. also announces Productions IDI pact for skeins

TORONTO — On the strength of increased radio and TV ad sales, Toronto-based Chum. last week reported a 44% jump in earnings.

The media content and distribution company posted a bottom line in the third quarter ended May 31 of C$14.3 million ($10.9 million), up from $7.6 million the previous year. Revenue for the quarter was up 4.1% to $113.5 million.

In addition, the company announced Friday that subsidiary Chum Television International has inked a worldwide distribution deal with Montreal-based Productions IDI in which Chum will distribute 15 new French- and English-language TV series produced by Productions IDI.

“The productions are perfect complements to Chum Television International’s collection of unique and highly targeted programming for the global market,” said Kevin Byles, VP and general manager of Chum Television International.

Productions IDI’s programming includes series with a movie industry focus such as “Box-office,” “Screens,” “Spotlight On…” and “He Said, She Said,” as well as spicier offerings “Hot Parade,” and “XXX Culture.”
