Rupert Murdoch’s Star TV has set a three-film slate with Indian content major United Television. Star TV will handle pics’ financing and marketing; UTV will control content, execution and distribution of the product.
Deal gives Star the TV rights, and the first film will be on air one year after its theatrical release. UTV will retain DVD and homevideo rights worldwide.
First production is scheduled to start early 2004, and all three will be complete in 18 months.
UTV recently co-produced the Shah Rukh Khan starrer “Chalte Chalte” (As We Go Along) and was involved in Aamir Khan’s “Lagaan” (Tax).
