Brazil’s Future Sports and soccer legend Pele’s production company Pele Pro have optioned the rights to Argentine reality soccer show “Camino a la gloria” (The Road to Glory) from Argentina’s Cuatro Cabezas.
Cuatro Cabezas did not disclose on what channel the show would air.
“Camino” follows 20 teenagers as they find out what it takes to play professional soccer and vie for the chance to play for a pro club.
“Camino” achieved an audience share of up to 45% during its four-month run last year on second-ranked Artear-Canal 13, a unit of local media conglom Grupo Clarin.
Rights to the show also have been optioned in Ecuador, France, Italy, South Africa and Turkey, while Ar-gentina’s Ledafilms, one of Latin America’s biggest indie distribution companies, has agreed to produce and distribute “Camino” and other Cuatro Cabezas’ formats for the U.S. Spanish-lingo market.
