Pols shutter Yugoslav pubcaster TV YU

Dispatches

BUDAPEST — TV Yugoslavia (TV YU) is to go off the air just two months after pols dismantled the Yugoslav federation in favor of the union of Serbia & Montenegro.

Underscoring decentralization of the new union, public broadcasting will be left to Radio Television Serbia (RTS) and its sister net in Montenegro. However, the federal Tanjug news agency will remain, and on April 14 ministers bolstered its support for the news wire by appointing former Radio Television Montenegro director Goran Rakocevic as its new chief. Rakocevic is a former minister of culture.
