‘Personality’ counts for Fox

Fox dominated Monday in key demo categories thanks to a special episode of “American Idol” and a promising start for limited-run reality skein “Mr. Personality,” according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen.

“Mr. Personality” (5.6/14 in adults 18-49, 12.1 million viewers overall) led its hour in the 18-49 demo and placed second to an hour of repeat episodes of CBS comedy “Everybody Loves Raymond” in total viewers. It retained most of its lead-in from “American Idol” (6.1/17 in adults 18-49, 13.9 million viewers overall), which easily led across the board from 8 to 9, and built on the music talent show in adults 18-34 (6.3 vs. 6.0). In another encouraging sign, “Personality” built on the half-hour, going from a 5.3/13 in adults 18-49 at 9 to a 6.0/14 at 9:30.

CBS was led by the 9 o’clock “Raymond” (4.7/12 in adults 18-49, 14 million viewers overall), NBC by an original “Third Watch” (4.2/10 in adults 18-49, 10.7 million viewers overall), and ABC by an original episode of “The Practice” at 9 (fourth-place 2.8/7 in adults 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: Fox, 5.9/15; CBS, 4.2/11; NBC, 3.8/10; ABC, 2.5/6.

In total viewers: Fox led with 13 million.
