HOLLYWOOD — PBS is sponsoring a contest for aspiring filmmakers, who must submit shorts documenting memorable road trips.
Winning short will be shown along with the pubcaster’s “Horatio’s Drive: America’s First Road Trip,” set to air Oct. 6.
Docu, helmed by Ken Burns, tells the story of America’s first cross-country road trip, undertaken on a bet in 1903.
Entrants must submit a video essay of no more than three minutes documenting their “perfect road trip.” In addition to airing the winning short after “Horatio’s Drive,” PBS will also send the winner to New York City to spend a day with Burns.
Contest is one of numerous that have cropped up in recent years for young filmmakers, led by the Chrysler Million Dollar Film Festival run by Hypnotic.
