Call-in TV channel Neun Live, which broke even in its second year, plans to launch a radio station for quiz shows.
The web has applied for an FM frequency for the Munich area with a range of 2 million households.
“If interactivity with viewers works on TV, it should work on the radio,” said Neun Live topper Christiane zu Salm.
Neun Live generates its revenues from viewers answering easy quiz questions via toll numbers.
In 2002, it beat its own forecasts with a pre-tax profit of $12 million.
The channel is 46% owned by USA Interactive’s Home Shopping Europe, web ProSiebenSat.1 (48%), topper Christiane zu Salm (3%) and Georg Kofler, head of German paybox Premiere (3%).
