ABC News said Wednesday it has tapped Boston TV correspondent David Muir to be the net’s new weekday overnight anchor.
Muir will anchor both “World News Now,” which airs from 2-5 a.m. (ET), and “World News This Morning,” which airs from 5-6 a.m. (ET).
In Boston, Muir worked for ABC affil WCVB, where he was both an anchor and general assignment reporter. During the recent Iraq war, he spent a month in Qatar, providing live reports for WCVB and Hearst-Argyle stations nationwide.
At ABC News, Muir replaces Derek McGinty, who recently left the net to anchor a new early evening news program for WUSA Washington, D.C.
