CBS comedy “My Big Fat Greek Life,” based on the blockbuster hit “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” bowed to very big numbers on Monday, according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen. Fox also did well with its special “Joe Millionaire: The Aftermath,” which led the 9 o’clock hour in all under-55 ratings categories.

“Greek Life” ran second in its 9:30 half-hour in adults 18-49 (7.4/16) and adults 25-54 (9.1/18) and drew the largest audience overall (22.7 million) – in each case building upon its “Everybody Loves Raymond” lead-in. In total viewers, “Greek” ranks as the top-rated new CBS comedy to premiere since “Cosby” in 1996.

CBS’ entire lineup was invigorated by the “Greek” comedy. “Yes, Dear,” for example, drew its largest aud in nearly a year (15.6 million), while the tune-in for “Raymond” (22 million viewers) was the biggest since its season premiere in September. And “CSI: Miami” (6.8/17 in adults 18-49, 19.1 million viewers overall) easily led the 10 o’clock hour.

Fox’s “Joe Millionaire” spec led at 9 in adults 18-49 with a very strong 10.1/23. Net’s “Boston Public” was above average in the opening hour (4.4/11 in adults 18-49, 10.7 million viewers overall).

NBC’s “Fear Factor” led the 8 o’clock hour (6.5/17 in adults 18-49, 15.5 million viewers overall), while “Third Watch” (4.2/9 in adults 18-49) and “Crossing Jordan” (4.2/10 in adults 18-49) were both solid.

ABC ran a distant fourth with night six of “I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here” (2.6/7 in adults 18-49) and a repeat of “The Bachelorette” finale (2.6/6).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: Fox, 7.2/17; CBS, 6.4/15; NBC, 5.0/12; ABC, 2.6/9.

In total viewers: CBS, 18.9 million; Fox, 15.1 million; NBC, 12.6 million; ABC, 6.4 million.
