Flextech taps Opie

Lisa Opie has been appointed head of Telewest’s content division Flextech, which part-owns pay TV channels including U.K. Gold and U.K. Style.

Opie has been running the com-pany ever since Jane Lighting left to become CEO of terrestrial commer-cial web Five. She joined Flextech in 1993 and was most recently execu-tive VP, having launched youth channel Trouble in 1997. She was made director of programs in 1998.

Flextech partnered with BBC Worldwide to launch UKTV, which owns and operates six channels including U.K. Gold, U.K. Style and U.K. Horizons. Flextech wholly owns Trouble, Bravo and Living TV.
