Net also snags fugitive Luster for seg
CBS newsmagazine “48 Hours Investigates” has landed the exclusive first post-jail interview with “Preppy Murder” perp Robert Chambers.
Interview follows an intense derby between the nets; CNN’s “Connie Chung Tonight” and ABC’s “Good Morning America” were the other finalists.
The 36-year-old Chambers served 15 years for the much-publicized murder of Jennifer Levin during a tryst in Central Park in 1986.
NBC sources said the Peacock bowed out last week because of elaborate demands from the Chambers camp that included chartered plane flights.
CBS declined to comment.
The Chambers get is the second big interview for the CBS newsmag this week. The show announced Tuesday it had landed an interview with Max Factor heir and fugitive Andrew Luster, who fled justice during his trial on 87 counts, including sexual battery, rape and poisoning of three women.
