Ex-HIT exec at Super RTL

Tyke channel owns Bob the Builder, SpongeBob

BERLIN — John Morris, former senior VP of international at HIT Entertainment, has joined German tyke channel Super RTL as head of merchandising.

Morris, who replaces Anita Van Esch, will oversee German and international properties such as Bob the Builder, Rubbadubbers, Tiny Planets, SpongeBob SquarePants and Blue’s Clues.

Florian Ruckert, director of sales and marketing at Super RTL, said, “We are delighted that with John Morris, we have gained an internationally recognized sales manager for our team.”

Morris was part of the senior management team at HIT that developed Bob the Builder, Barney and Pingu into entertainment brands. Before that, he worked at BBC Worldwide in sales and co-production.

Super RTL is a 50-50 joint venture of Walt Disney Television Intl. and RTL Group.
