EU bank grants loan

EU funding body the European Investment Bank has granted Danish pubcaster Danmarks Radio (DR) a loan of 94 million euros ($111 million) to help build a new state-of-the-art TV and radio production facility.

Cash will be added to a further loan, worth $126 million, which the EIB gave DR in June 2001.

Loan is part of the EIB’s plan to develop Europe’s new media prod facilities under its Innovation Initiative i2i. Since the launch of i2i in 2000, the EIB has used the scheme to lend over $588 million to the EU’s audiovisual industry.
