Drama stars Davies, Sharp as unexpected lovers
Showtime Networks has picked up English series “Bob and Rose” for multiplex channel Showtime Women.
Hourlong drama is scripted by Russell T. Davies, writer and creator of Channel 4’s “Queer as Folk,” which Showtime went on to adapt for an American version.
“Bob and Rose” follows a gay man and straight woman who, to everyone’s confusion, fall in love. Alan Davies and Leslie Sharp star in the title roles. Ann Harrison-Baxter produces and Nicola Shindler is exec producer. Skein is a Red Production Co. production for ITV.
Six-episode skein was picked up from Carlton Intl. Valerie Watts Meraz and Gary Garfinkel negotiated the deal for Showtime and Clare Alter for Carlton.
Show will bow Wednesday on Showtime Women.
