TORONTO — Ellis Entertainment and broadcaster Vision TV have inked a joint venture to develop, produce and distribute original non-fiction TV programming worldwide.
The new entity, Toronto-based Vision TV Intl., has green-lit three projects.
“Spirit Talker” is a paranormal series in which psychic medium Alan Hatfield travels around North America’s psychic “hot spots” over ten half-hours. “Sacred Sites” will feature six one-hour journeys to the world’s holiest places in a secular exploration of what makes a place holy. “Zarathustra: Prophet of Light” examines the world’s oldest monotheistic religion, Zoroastrianism, and its influence on other faiths and historic figures.
The terms of the deal give VisionTV first broadcast rights for Canada in most cases, but also allows other broadcasters and co-producers to participate.
Stephen Ellis will act as president and Kip Spidell head of production of Vision TV Intl..
A basic cable channel available in 7.8 million Canadian homes, Vision TV is the only multi-faith, multicultural TV network in the world.
Ellis Entertainment has produced programming for close to 40 years. Both are based in Toronto.
