CTV is getting itself ‘Punk’d’

Deal includes first eight episodes from first season

MONTREAL — Canuck web CTV, which had a big hit last year with MTV’s “The Osbournes,” has snared MTV’s hit series “Punk’d.”

The Ashton Kutcher hidden-camera series is on MTV Canada, a digital-only web that has nowhere near the reach of CTV.

The deal was announced Tuesday by CTV’s president of programming Susanne Boyce. “Punk’d” will begin air Mondays at 8 p.m. on CTV beginning Sept. 29.

Deal includes the first eight half-hour episodes from the first season and episodes now in production. “The Osbournes” was a fixture in the Canadian top 10 when CTV aired it last year.

The series follows Kutcher, Jason Goldberg and their team as they play elaborate pranks on celebrities.
