Capit-al ida for cranking out shows

BUENOS AIRES — Argentina’s producers, advertisers and ad agencies are creating a joint production outfit to make 40 to 50 programs a year.

Members of the Argentine Chamber of Independent Producers (Capit) will contribute ideas and know-how for docus, cartoons, soap operas and other programs, while advertisers will ante up production money and buy ad time on the programs. Capit’s members include leading production companies Cuatro Cabezas and Pol-ka Prods.

The as-yet-unnamed joint venture will focus on culture, education and social issues, according to Alberto Garcia Carmona, director of institutional relations at carmaker General Motors de Argentina and the spokesman for the Argentine Chamber of Advertisers.

The programs will air on broadcasters including Grupo Clarin’s Artear-Canal 13 and Admira’s Telefe and also state-run Canal 7 beginning next year, he added. Hugo Di Guglielmo, a media consultant who was programming manager of Artear for 11 years until 2001, will advise the production company, as will Pedro Simoncini, a media consultant who was one of the first shareholders of Telefe.
