C4 first in Europe to draw BVI’s ‘Fire’

First foreign sale of midseason ABC drama

LONDON — Buena Vista Intl. Television has sold crime series “Line of Fire” to U.K. web Channel 4, the first European sale of the program, starring Leslie Hope (“24”), David Paymer (“The Hurricane”) and Leslie Bibb (“Popular”).

Written and directed by Rod Lurie, drama focuses on a powerful crime syndicate and the FBI agents who try to take it down.

Series, produced by Touchstone Television with Battle Plan Prods., is in production and will premiere midseason on ABC in the U.S. in 2004.

C4 has picked up exclusive pay and terrestrial TV rights and will air the series early next year.

“To secure a home for ‘Line of Fire’ on Channel 4 is a fantastic launch for the show internationally,” said Buena Vista Intl.’s Tom Toumazis, senior VP and managing director, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Added June Dromgoole, controller of program acquisitions at Channel 4, “This continues in the tradition of bringing the best of American programming to the channel.”
